Ways to Give

Every act of generosity strengthens our mission. At the Sewickley Valley YMCA, giving isn’t limited to one-time donations—it’s about creating lasting impact in a way that’s meaningful to you. Whether you’re inspired to give monthly, support future generations through legacy giving, or donate your time, there are many ways to be part of something bigger.

See the Spark of Immediate Impact

Even a single gift can ignite meaningful change. Your one-time donation helps meet urgent needs—supporting the individuals and families who rely on the Y today.

  • Annual Campaign: Donate and help children, families, and individuals access life-changing programs like swim lessons, child care and chronic disease prevention programs—building a stronger, more inclusive community for all.
  • Faith in Action: Provide free transportation and care for seniors and adults with disabilities. Your support helps neighbors remain independent, connected, and valued.
  • Quaker Valley Food to Families: Fund or contribute to food deliveries that provide fresh, nutritious food to families in need across our community.
  • Programs in Need: Support the areas of greatest need. Flexible giving helps us respond quickly to urgent needs across our programs and outreach initiatives.
  • Non-Cash or In-Kind Gifts: Donate nutritious food for families and individuals, educational books or toys for child care, or gently used sports equipment for programs to support urgent needs and programs.
  • Volunteer Your Time: Whether mentoring youth, helping at events, or packing food boxes, volunteering connects you directly to the community you’re helping to build.

Empower Year-Round Impact

Sustained support allows the Y to grow and plan for the future. Whether through a monthly pledge, workplace giving, or a gift of appreciated stock, your ongoing commitment helps ensure year-round access to programs that strengthen our community.

  • Annual Pledge: Spread your impact throughout the year with a recurring donation. Your consistent support helps us plan ahead and sustain programs for youth, families, and seniors.
  • Stock Donations: Put your assets to work for the greater good. A gift of appreciated stock can offer tax advantages while sustaining programs you care about.
  • United Way Giving: Direct your workplace donation to the Sewickley Valley YMCA by selecting code #286. It’s a simple way to support local programs and families.

Support the Community with a Legacy Gift

Legacy giving—also known as planned giving or leaving a gift in your will—is a powerful way to ensure your values live on. By including the Sewickley Valley YMCA in your estate plan, you help future generations access programs that promote health, connection, and opportunity.

Legacy gifts may include:

  • Bequests: Include the YMCA in your will or trust.
  • Retirement Plan Assets: Name the Y as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other retirement plan.
  • Life Insurance: Designate the YMCA as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
  • Charitable Trusts: Create a trust that provides income to you or a loved one, with the remaining funds supporting the Y.
  • Real Estate or Appreciated Assets: Leave property or valuable assets that support our mission.

When you make a legacy gift, you join the Heritage Club, a special community of supporters committed to strengthening the Y for generations to come. Legacy gifts of any size are deeply appreciated and help build a more connected, inclusive community.

Help The Community

Whether donating non-perishable food items to support those facing food insecurity, providing gently used sports equipment to empower aspiring athletes, or contributing games and puzzles to the Teen Oasis Center, every donation makes a difference. Additionally, your time and talents as a volunteer further enhance the well-being of individuals and families in our community. Explore meaningful ways everyone can contribute:

THE GIFT OF FOOD SECURITY

No gift is too small! Check out the list of non-perishable hearty food items below. All donated items should be unopened and not expired. Drop off your contributions in the Sewickley Valley YMCA lobby or place them inside one of our Free Mini Pantries. During the winter months, avoid glass jars in pantries.

  • Pasta, rice, whole grains
  • Instant rice and potatoes
  • Dry cereal
  • Instant oats
  • Hearty soup
  • Crackers/pretzels

  • Baking staples: sugar, flour, salt, pepper, honey, oil, etc.

THE GIFT OF PLAY

Empower aspiring athletes in our programs by donating gently used sports equipment. Your contributions, from soccer balls to tennis rackets, play a crucial role in creating active and healthy lifestyles.

Additionally, support the OASIS Teen Center by contributing games and puzzles. Your generous donations not only provide a space for teens to unwind but also create opportunities for them to connect and engage in positive recreational activities.
